Kia Ora and Haere Mai - Welcome
Welcome to Ahikaa Adventures - Maori Cultural Eco Adventures at Cape Reinga in the real far north of New Zealand.
If you want to try sand surfing down the Te Paki Giant Sand Dunes at the northern end of the 90 Mile Beach...
…or experience a Maori cultural eco tour, kayaking and fishing on the beautiful Parengarenga Harbour near Cape Reinga, listening to birds and Maori legends and gathering traditional kai (food)
…then welcome to our world.
We are Ngati Kuri, the iwi (tribe) who have the greatest honour of all - being Kaitiaki (guardians) to this very sacred part of Aotearoa - "Te Rerenga Wairua - Where the Spirits Leap; known to you, as Cape Reinga".
Three hours from Bay of Islands is the real far north - but a million miles away from anything you’ve ever experienced.
In the Maori language, 'Ahikaa' refers to the people who live on their tribal lands and keep the home fires burning. We have lived here sustainably for centuries - long before the term 'eco-friendly' even existed!
It is with great pride that we invite you to the land of our ancestors - to share our stories, laughter and to make special memories.
